Mrs. Trompeter 6th Grade
Welcome to Mrs. Trompeter's Sixth Grade Class!
Welcome to sixth grade. Since the students in my class are absolutely wonderful, this is going to be a terrific and exciting year. Already we have been working diligently and have accomplished so much! I am so pleased with and proud of my students. As both a parent and a teacher, I have very high expectations and hold each of my students accountable for their learning--with appropriate help from support staff, parents, and, of course, me.
Daily work: Students have a homework packet that is given on Wednesday and collected the following Wednesday. The spelling test on the words from that packet will be on the Wednesday the packet is collected. Other homework is assigned as completion of a task started in class and not completed, or studying for a test. Projects are always given at least a one week prior notice.
If you would like to help your child at home, have them read articles of their choice, and then ask them to form an opinion, draw a conclusion, or relate the article to themselves, a text, or their world. Be sure they support their ideas with evidence from the article. Having them read out loud to you or a sibling will help them gain fluency and expression as they read. In turn, this will help with comprehension.
Teacher Background
This is my 22nd year in teaching. I have experience teaching grades 1, 4, 6, 7, 8, and High School, and am certified to teach grades Prek-12. My degrees include a B.A. from Skidmore, an M.A. from Bread Loaf School of English at Middlebury College, and a Sixth Year Degree for Professional Teaching from Sacred Heart.
I live in the Antique Capital of Connecticut in a colonial home designed by my grandfather. As a matter of fact, I live across the street from the home in which I grew up. My husband of thirty-four years and I have two grown sons and four grandchildren. II adore babysitting my grandchildren and thinking up fun things for us to do. I also enjoy doing agility training with my golden retriever, reading, and gardening.
